as an individual, there is so much that you can do. ask yourself, “what skills or abilities do i have, and how can i use them to amplify my voice?”
the first step towards progress is recognizing that you (yes, you!) are capable of making a difference. then, research!
find ways you can help—no matter how big or small. whether that’s making posters and attending climate strikes or fundraising for nonprofits that support climate action or writing op-eds in your school newspaper, you are capable of making an impact.
the issue of climate change is so nuanced and multifaceted that there are countless ways to get involved. go to beach cleanups, host recycling fairs, educate your neighbors and family, tweet, post, comment, write, petition, email, strike, protest, produce, design, create anything that can raise money and raise awareness about the issues that the environment faces.
this is just the tip of the iceberg (the icebergs, by the way, are melting because of global warming) in terms of what you can do.
the hardest part is pushing yourself to find the ways you can help. but once you do—once you figure out what you want to focus on—you’ll discover that there are more people working for this common goal than you realize. you’ll find a community of people dedicated to environmental protection, and you’ll find yourself as part of that group, fighting for a better future for the world.
